operating system on non-Apple personal computers with x86 architecture on x86-64 processors.
The effort started soon after the June 2005 Worldwide Developers Conference announcement that Apple would be moving its personal computers from Power PC to Intel microprocessors.
Yesterday, I downloaded i ATKOS S3 v2 (Mac OS X 10.6.3) and installed it. I did the same setup in Mac OS X 10.6.8 update, I restarted with command '-v'.
In my experience, updating i ATKOS v7 (Mac OS X 10.5.6) to Mac OS X 10.5.8 just needed to do the following setup:1) Install Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update2) Do not restart3) Install #####4) Choose Chameleon 2.0 RC55) Restart Following the above setup, it worked without any problem.
However, the newer frameworks relied on the newer kernels and this led to users of 10.4.8 encountering many problems.
Apple also started making more use of SSE3 instructions on their hardware making it even more difficult for users with CPUs supporting only SSE2 (such as older Pentium 4s) to get a fully compatible system running.
everyone needs to take care and inspect a update package what kexts it contains ( use pacifist to open installer packages ) ..
I loose my screen resolution and my sound after a OS update.. But HDD drivers are of course the most sensible part, right next after the cpu power manager.
Don't focus on the EEPROM message, this can be harmless ( its from your ethernet device ) .
But now I install it and it didn't you would need the patched that has your Device IDs in them.
